T5T ! CONTEMPORARIES !

Hi guys and welcome to another post of top 5 Tuesday, a tag hosted by the lovely Shanah, over at thebionicbookworm.  Today, I’ll be talking about…

MARCH 20th – Top 5 contemporary/fiction (adult and/or young adult)

so let’s get into it!

  1. A Tragic Kind Of Wonderful – Eric Lindstrom
This was an amazing novel that dealt with a character who had bipolar disorder & went through a lot throughout the novel, only to come out stronger at the end.
  2. Under Rose Tainted Skies – Louise Gornall
This dealt with a character who had Agoraphobia & how it affected her life as  a teenager, it was sweet & not romanticising at all ( in the sense of romanticising metal illnesses, there was, however, some romance of course! )
  3. The Dangerous Art of Blending In – Angelo Surmelis
This novel hurt in the best ways, it dealt with a character who was gay with a family that very much opposed it, it showed the pain he had to go through daily, and in the end, how he survived.
  4. Indigo Blue – Jessica Watson
This is the only novel that won’t make you cry, or at least, didn’t make me cry. This is a novel about a small town & a girl in it who discovers something a little magical. it was a sweet summer read that made me fall in love.
  5. A Monster Calls – Patrick Ness
This will break your heart, it’s heartbreaking in the best ways. It deals with a young boy being helped through the emotions he feels after his mother passes away from cancer and it hurts so much but the ending is beautiful.

It’s obvious my favorites are all contemporaries that deal with some heaby topics and hurt alot, but at the end, they really make you think differently or understand something better and for that, I will hold these books close to my heart.

Have you read any of these? obviously, I have to recommend them because they’re amazing!

until next time,
Sarah

  1. A Monster Calls had me crying for days – DAYS!! i’ve never responded to a book like that. But I had went through an experience similar to it only the year before so it hit harder than most. Great list!
